Filling the Void: Why Lust Isn’t Really What You’re Hungry For

✍️ Day 10 — Filling the Void: Why Lust Isn’t Really What You’re Hungry For

🍽️ Introduction: The Empty Stomach of the Soul

Here’s the truth: lust is a counterfeit meal. 🍔 It looks satisfying, it smells tempting, but when you devour it… you’re still empty.

I chased porn, hookups, masturbation—thinking I was filling a need. But every time, I ended up hollow. What I thought was hunger for sex was actually a hunger for something deeper: God’s love, intimacy, connection, and purpose.

Brother, lust isn’t really about sex—it’s about a soul that’s starving.

🕳️ My Story: The Hollow Feast

There were nights I binged on porn for hours. My body felt exhausted, my mind felt foggy, and my soul felt… dead.

I kept asking myself: “Why am I still empty? Why didn’t that fix me?”

It hit me: I wasn’t feeding my soul. I was trying to use lust to fill a God-sized hole. And lust never had the power to do that.

When I finally turned to Jesus, the hunger began to fade—not because I stopped feeling it, but because He started filling it.

📖 Scripture That Satisfies

John 6:35 (NIV):
“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’”

Jesus, not lust, fills the hunger.

Psalm 107:9 (NIV):
“For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

God doesn’t leave you starving. He feeds you with the good stuff.

Jeremiah 2:13 (NIV):
“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

Lust is a broken cistern—it can’t hold what your soul needs.

💡 Why Lust Feels Like Hunger

  • ❌ You’re lonely, so you try to feed it with fantasy.
  • ❌ You’re stressed, so you medicate with masturbation.
  • ❌ You’re empty, so you binge porn thinking it will fill you.

But these aren’t real meals—they’re junk food for the soul. They trick you into thinking you’re full, but they starve you even more.

⚔️ How to Fill the Void the Right Way

🥖 1. Feed on God’s Word Daily

Stop starving your spirit. Read Scripture every morning—make Jesus your first meal.

🙏 2. Pray When the Hunger Hits

When temptation rises, ask: “What am I really hungry for?” Then take it to God in prayer.

👬 3. Build Real Relationships

Lust thrives on fake intimacy. Replace it with real connection—friends, mentors, brothers in Christ.

🎶 4. Worship Instead of Wandering

When you feel the void, worship. Praise is spiritual nourishment.

🛑 5. Fast from the Counterfeit

Cut off the broken cisterns (porn, fantasy, lust) so your soul starts craving living water again.

🌅 What Satisfaction Feels Like

When I started feasting on God’s Word, my hunger shifted. The cravings for lust didn’t vanish overnight, but they weakened because something stronger was filling me.

Brother, when you eat the bread of life, you realize: I don’t need the junk food anymore.

💡 Encouragement for You

Don’t keep trying to fill your soul with things that leak. You were made for more than scrolling, fantasizing, and relapsing. You were made to be satisfied by the living God.

Lust leaves you hungry. Jesus leaves you full.
