Biblical Hospitality: Making Room
Discover how biblical hospitality transforms hearts and homes. Explore Scripture's call to welcome others as we welcome Christ, learning practical ways to extend God's love.
About this plan
Hospitality is far more than offering refreshments or a comfortable seat. In Scripture, hospitality is a sacred practice rooted in the character of God Himself. When we welcome others into our homes and hearts, we participate in God's redemptive work and reflect His boundless generosity.
Throughout the Bible, we see hospitality as a cornerstone of faith. Abraham welcomed three strangers who turned out to be angels (Genesis 18). The Shunnamite woman provided lodging for the prophet Elisha, and her act of kindness was rewarded beyond measure (2 Kings 4). Jesus Himself modeled radical hospitality—eating with tax collectors, visiting the homes of Pharisees, and breaking cultural barriers to show love and acceptance.
Yet hospitality in our modern world faces challenges. We're busy, our homes feel too small, we're cautious about strangers, and we struggle with perfectionism. We believe we need the perfect home, the perfect meal, or the perfect circumstances before we can welcome others. But biblical hospitality isn't about perfection—it's about intention.
This seven-day study will help you understand hospitality as Jesus taught it: a spiritual discipline that opens doors, breaks down walls, and creates space for God's love to flow through our relationships. You'll discover that making room isn't just about physical space—it's about making room in your schedule, your heart, and your life for others.
As we journey through these passages, ask yourself: Who is God calling me to welcome? What fears or obstacles are keeping me from extending hospitality? How can I create a culture of belonging in my home and community? Join us as we learn that the most beautiful homes are those where people feel truly seen, valued, and loved. 🏡❤️
