📖 Introduction

Isaiah’s call in chapter 6 is one of the most vivid and inspiring moments recorded in Scripture. It begins with a vision of God enthroned in glory, surrounded by angels proclaiming, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory!" This majestic scene sets the stage for a profound encounter—an encounter that reveals both God's holiness and our need for cleansing.

Amidst his overwhelming awareness of God's holiness, Isaiah is struck by his own unworthiness. He confesses, "Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips..." It's in this moment of self-awareness that a seraph, an angelic being, flies to him with a burning coal taken from the altar and touches his lips, declaring, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

This burning coal symbolizes purification, cleansing, and empowerment. It represents how God not only confronts our sin but also provides the means for our holiness and mission. Throughout this study, we will journey through Isaiah’s visionary experience, reflect on themes of divine holiness, personal purification, and how God calls and equips us for His purposes. As we engage with God's Word, may we find that same purifying fire burning in our hearts, readying us for our unique callings.

Let’s dive into this powerful encounter and allow God’s presence to transform us.
