Global Christianity: Learning from the Worldwide Church
Discover how Christians across the globe embody faith differently, strengthen each other, and reveal Christ's universal kingdom through diverse cultures and traditions.
About this plan
Christianity is not confined to any single culture, nation, or tradition. From the bustling megachurches of Nigeria to the ancient Orthodox monasteries of Ethiopia, from house churches in China to vibrant Pentecostal communities in Latin America, the global Church displays the remarkable breadth of God's kingdom. Yet many of us remain largely unaware of how our brothers and sisters in Christ worship, suffer, celebrate, and serve around the world.
This seven-day study invites you to expand your understanding of what it means to be part of the global body of Christ. We will explore Scripture's vision for a unified, multi-ethnic Church; examine how different cultures express faith authentically; learn from the perseverance of believers in challenging contexts; and discover how the Holy Spirit works across languages, traditions, and continents.
By engaging with global Christianity, we are not diluting our own faith traditionsβwe are enriching them. When we listen to the prayers of Korean Christians, witness the joy of African worship, study the theological depth of European scholarship, and honor the courage of persecuted believers, we see facets of Christ's character we might otherwise miss. We are reminded that the Gospel transcends our limited perspectives and that God's Spirit moves in ways far beyond our individual experiences.
Throughout this week, you will: reflect on Paul's teaching about the body of Christ; consider how the early Church navigated cultural diversity; explore Jesus' vision for a borderless kingdom; learn from specific examples of global faith communities; and prayerfully consider how you can engage more deeply with the worldwide Church.
Whether you are called to cross cultures personally or to support believers globally through prayer and generosity, this study will deepen your appreciation for the magnificent, unified diversity of God's people across all nations, languages, and generations. πβοΈ
