Working for God Not Men: Colossians 3
A 7-day study exploring how to serve God wholeheartedly in all work and relationships, discovering true purpose and eternal reward through Christ-centered living.
About this plan
📖 In our modern world, we often find ourselves caught between competing loyalties. We work to please our bosses, serve to impress our peers, and live to gain approval from those around us. But what if there's a higher calling? What if the work we do—whether in our careers, homes, churches, or communities—could be transformed by a single, revolutionary perspective?
The Apostle Paul writes to the church at Colossae with a message that cuts through the noise of human approval-seeking: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." (Colossians 3:23-24)
This isn't merely about productivity or work ethic. This is about identity, purpose, and eternal perspective. When we understand that we ultimately work for God, not men, everything changes. Our motivation shifts from temporal approval to eternal significance. Our struggles find meaning. Our daily tasks become acts of worship.
Over the next seven days, we'll explore Colossians 3 together, discovering how to:
- Set our minds on heavenly things rather than earthly concerns
- Put to death destructive attitudes and behaviors
- Clothe ourselves with Christ-like virtues
- Transform our relationships—with family, employers, and one another
- Serve with the awareness that we're ultimately serving Jesus
This study invites you into a deeper relationship with Christ and a more purposeful way of living. As you engage with Scripture, reflect honestly, and apply these truths, may your perspective on work, service, and daily life be radically renewed. 🙏
