Grief and Healing: Lamenting Creation's Brokenness

About this plan

📖 Introduction

Grieving environmental tragedy is a deep and often overlooked pain. When we witness oil spills and ruined landscapes, we experience sorrow not just for nature but for the brokenness of God’s good creation. This grief touches our hearts and calls us to lament.

Throughout Scripture, lament is a sacred practice. It is a way to bring our pain honestly before God — expressing sorrow, anger, confusion, and hope. The Psalms are filled with raw cries for restoration, and the prophets mourn the devastation caused by human brokenness.

This study invites you to walk through seven days of lament and reflection in light of environmental tragedies. We will explore how Scripture acknowledges grief over creation’s suffering, how God responds with compassion, and how we may participate in the hopeful promise of renewal.

Just as the earth groans for redemption (Romans 8:22), our hearts grieve alongside it. Yet, in this journey of mourning, we find God’s steadfast love and the promise of restoration—a renewal that includes all creation. Through reflection, prayer, and embracing God’s Word, we will experience healing and a renewed call to stewardship.

Join this path of lament, and may your grief be met with God’s grace and the hope that sustains us all.
